Quinn Sewalong Day 4

Welcome back for the fourth day of the Quinn Sewalong. Today is all about hemming. The instructions and pattern pieces are a bit different for the separate views, so I am going to be breaking it up between View A and then B and C.

Let's start with View A.

(For Views B-D, skip ahead to Step 28.)

Step 23 - With right slides touching, pin the Hem Facings together at center back, matching notches. Stitch at a normal 1/2" seam allowance.

Trim seam allowances if needed and press seam allowances open.

Fold the top (unnotched) edge of the Hem Facing down, wrong sides touching, by 1⁄4”, and press.

Step 24 - With the Front Facing extended and right sides touching, pin each end of the Hem Facing to its coordinating angled edge of the Front Facing. Stitch.

Trim seam allowances to reduce bulk and press open.

Step 25 - Fold the entire Facing back along the center front seam, lining up the bottom angled and curved edges of the Facing with the bottom of the main garment. Line up the center back seams and the notches with the side seams. Pin.

Stitch, starting at the center font edge, sewing along the bottom angled edge, and pivoting at the corners.

Step 26 - Trim and grade the seam allowances as needed to reduce bulk, especially at the corners.

Turn the entire Facing to the inside of the garment and press. Pin.

Step 27 - Starting and stopping at the bottom angled edge as shown below, stitch at a scant 1” from the lower edge, catching the inside folded edge of the Hem Facing in your line of stitching.

That it is for View A. Now lets hem the other views.
