ABOUT

Hi, I’m Kelli. I am the writer, creator, and designer behind True Bias. I live in Denver, CO where I design patterns for home sewists and sew clothing for myself and my family.

About five years ago I started this blog as a way to connect with like-minded people and get feedback on the things I was making for myself. I was a young mom desperately seeking fulfillment and a sense of identity in my new role. Sewing became that much-needed outlet for me. I loved the fact that if I worked on a sewing project during the day, it would stay done, unlike the chaos of motherhood around me.

About a year later my small family moved to New York City. It was there that the world of sewing and fashion really opened up to me and I realized that if I dedicated myself to it, I could make my blog much more than a hobby. I began taking patternmaking classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology and continued to develop my skills. It was during that time that I released my first sewing pattern, the Hudson Pant. I continued to create modern, wearable patterns for women, and then added age appropriate children’s versions of the same patterns. It was also in NYC that I really began to meet and become close to other sewists and sewing bloggers. The talents of these individuals and their different views on creating clothing inspired me. I felt like I truly had found my people.

Recently my family made another move, this time to Denver, CO. As much as we loved the hustle and bustle of the big apple, it became clear that our family’s needs weren’t all being met there. I am excited for this new adventure and all that the future holds.

If you have a question, or need to get in touch, please send me an email through my contact page. Thank you so much for visiting!
