Casey Sewalong Day 2

Welcome back for the second day of the Casey Sewalong. Today will be a bit shorter and will pertain to all views as we will be sewing up the crotch and the faux fly. Lets get started.

Step 9 - With right sides touching, line the crotch curves up on both sides of the shorts or pants, matching inner leg seams, dots, and notches. Pin.

Step 10 - Starting at the center front notch on the Front, stitch down to the first dot in a normal stitch length. Backstitch. Continue stitching down to the second dot (along previously pressed line) in a long basting stitch. Backstitch. Return to a normal stitch length and stitch the remainder of the crotch curve at a normal 1⁄2” seam allowance.

Step 11 - Stitch the outside of the fly at a normal 1⁄2” seam allowance, ending at the lower dot and backstitching.

Step 12 - Trim the crotch seam allowance down to about 1⁄4” and finish the seam allowances using your preferred method. I like to serge so I just trim and serge at the same time.

Step 13 - Press the fly and seam allowances of the entire crotch towards the left side (when wearing). Pin the fly in place.

Step 14 - Using the Button / Fly Stitching Guide, mark the fly topstitching on the outside of the left Front.

Stitch. catching the fly underneath and backstitching at the dot.

That is it for today! Super simple.
