I have had a few fails in a row with sewing projects for myself so I decided to do some sewing for my children to have a few successes in the mix. I saw these shorts made by a few other bloggers during the kids clothing week and knew that I needed to make them for my daughter.
Pattern: Bubble Pocket Shorts by Elegance and Elephants
Materials Used: Cotton Liberty Lifestyle Fabric
Sizing: I cut a size 3T/4T for my 3 yr old and it fits really well.
Changes Made: I didn't make any intentional changes, but not all of my pieces matched up in the end so I had to adjust those as I went. I have no idea if it was a cutting error on my part or a problem with the pattern. In the end it wasn't a big deal though.
The Good: So adorable. I love the sailor style and buttons on the pattern. My daughter is obsessed with the pockets. Pretty sure we will be wearing these a lot this summer.
The Bad: Like I mentioned above not all of my pieces matched up perfectly. I will let you know after I make them again if that was user error or not. Also they are pretty time consuming for a kids short. Think lots and lots of button holes.
Conclusion: Adorable pattern. I will make them again for sure. In fact I already have some vintage fabric that I picked up at a yard sale set aside for them. Next time I think that I will make the regular version without the buttons and adjustable waistband to make them a quicker sew.
