Darla Sewalong Day 7

Welcome back to the last day of the Darla sewalong. Today is going to be super short as all we are doing is finishing up the final touches.

This first step is only for the tie back views.

Step 64 - Once trimmed to the desired length, let's finish the tie ends. Fold twice at 3/8" and press.

Pin in place - or use a glue stick like I do.

Then stitch close to the inside folded edge to secure. It can be hard to stitch such a small piece of fabric. So my tip is to put a piece of paper underneath when stitching. It gives the feed dogs something to grab onto and the paper just tears away afterwards.

Next we will hem your dress or jumpsuit.
Step 65 - For the dress, fold up the bottom edge by 3/8", wrong sides touching, and press.

Fold it by another 3/8”. Press and pin.

Stitch just inside the folded edge to complete the hem. I like to give it one last press to set the stitches.

For the jumpsuit, fold up the bottom edge by 1⁄4”, wrong sides touching, and press.

Fold it again by 1”. Press and pin.

Stitch just inside the folded edge to complete the hem.

And that is it! I like to give everything a nice press at this time and snip any loose threads so it's ready to wear.

I hope you found this sewalong helpful and that you love your Darla.
