REVIEW : ORGANIC COTTON PLUS AND MCCALLS 6733

When Organic Cotton Plus contacted me to review some of their fabric I was thrilled. I havn't sewn with a lot of organic or fair trade fabrics before and was curious with all of the recent news happenings in the world of fashion and fabric of late. I feel generally good about the fact that I make such a large percentage of my own and my children's clothes and are therefore contributing less to the problems of fast fashion, but then there is the next step of being aware of where the fabric I use comes from. Organic Cotton Plus is certified under the Global Organic Textile Standards and is committed to fair labor and sustainable materials.

I chose to review some of their interlock knit and couldn't resist their dark green color (the color of the season :). The fabric came fast and in nice minimilist packaging. It's the perfect knit to sew with - washes up great, and not too slinky so that it gets caught up in your machine and is hard to cut, but still soft on your skin. I have some fabric left over from making the romper and plan on making myself a stretch skirt soon. If eco friendly fabric is something that is important to you I highly recommend checking out Organic Cotton Plus.

As for McCalls 6733, it is a great little on trend pattern. I plan on making another one and will do a more extensive review then. But in a nutshell the pattern is great with a couple of adjustments. I found the waistline to be very high so I put the elastic casing in the shorts instead of the bodice as suggested. I also took a little out of the crotch as well. I made the straps much thinner too- more spaghetti strap. I think it's a really sweet pattern that I will sew up again soon.

Disclosure : Organic Cotton Plus sent me this fabric to review free of charge. This is my true and honest opinion.
