TESSUTI'S SUZY PANT AND GIVEAWAY!!!

I have been wanting to make some pleated pants for awhile after falling in love with these. For awhile I was trying to alter a pattern, but I started loosing interest after awhile. Then Tessuti released this pattern and I ordered the pattern immediately. I knew that I would tweak them, but they were so close to what I wanted that it seemed like a no brainer. I feel like these pants are going to be a wardrobe staple this fall. Hooray for trendy pants that feel like pajamas!

Here are some closeups of the waistband so that you can see what I am talking about.

Pattern: Tessuti Fabrics Suzy Pant

Materials Used: Drapey Polyester from Joanns

Sizing: I made the small and it worked well.

Changes Made: I wanted to make them look like these inspiration pants so I changed the waistband a bit. Instead of inserting a small elastic I cut doubles of the waistband pieces and inserted a 2 inch elastic to just the back waistband and left the from panel flat (and added interfacing) so that I could tuck it in if I wanted. I also pegged the legs a bit more.

The Good: LOVE these pants. The hand drawn pattern is precise and goes together smoothly. They seriously took me a couple of hours to sew up once I got the pattern taped and cut out. Exactly what I would expect from a Tessuti pattern - sophisticated and effortless at the same time.

The Bad: Really nothing. Such an easy pattern with great results. I think the key to these pants is to make them out of a flowey fabric otherwise they are going to be pretty ballooney around the waistline with the pleating.

Conclusion: I will be making up another pair as soon as I find some fabric. The most comfortable pants I own, and right on trend.
